A Bowmanville driver is among three people facing stunt driving charges after speeding past police conducting a traffic stop in Manvers Township by Peterborough OPP.

On February 28 around 2:15 p.m, an OPP police cruiser was stopped on the shoulder of Highway 115 completing a traffic stop. Three cars raced past the officer as he finished up clocked at speeds between 150 km/h and 180 km/h in a 100 zone.

All three cars were stopped on Highway 115 near Porter Road.

A 22-year-old from Bowmanville was charged with stunt driving in relation to excessive speed. A 20-year-old from Cambridge and a 21-year-old from Peterborough caught the same charge.

Including these three, Peterborough OPP stopped and charged seven drivers with stunt driving in relation to excessive speed between February 28 and March 1.

Stunt driving charges automatically see the driver’s license suspended for 30 days and their vehicle impounded for two weeks.
