A beloved pizza restaurant that closed after 34 years in Mississauga has reopened.

Amadio’s Pizza, located at 360 Revus Ave. in the Port Credit area, announced it was closing on Oct. 28.

The Leroux Family said they were struggling with a drop in sales, partly due to a road closure related to Metrolinx construction. The family also decided they no longer had the energy to continue due to health reasons. They were trying to sell the business but appeared to have no takers in October.

However, the new owner, Kia, just announced the pizza joint re-opened on Dec. 22.

“After 34 years of ownership, Joe has officially passed the torch to the wonderful new owner, Kia,” a post on Amadio’s Pizza’s social media reads.

The new owner says much remains the same.

“Joe and his family were gracious in sharing their time during a transition period and passed along the history, the recipes, the suppliers and the key insights into the operation of Amadio’s Pizza,” the post reads.

Our commitment to you, is that the experience you will receive remains what you have come to know and love about Amadio’s Pizza.”

Kia’s background in the pizza business started as a 16-year-old, working at his local Pizza Pizza store in Brampton, according to the post. Kia’s team will include several of his family members, along with some of Joe’s existing staff.

“We thank you for your support of Amadio’s Pizza over all these years and look forward to welcoming you back!”

Amadio’s Pizza is now open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
