Have you been in the mood for an exceptional dosa and haven’t been quite sure where to go to get one?

Since there is no shortage of selection in the GTA, the choice as to where to dine can be a tough one—especially when places that serve this spicy, satisfying mainstay are plentiful across cities.

When it come to a great dosa, every aspect counts. Is the crepe nice and crispy? Is the potato bhaji filling melt-in-your-mouth good? Is the sambar perfect for dipping?

Both Mississauga and Brampton are known for their respective food scenes and both offer a ton of commendable dosa choices—but only one city can have the absolute best hotspots.

What places were competing?

Mississauga

Top 5 Dosas in Mississauga

Mississauga is home to a number of delicious Indian restos that offer incredible dosas. If you’re in the mood for one (and you should be), you can check out the unassuming but always satisfying Desi Bar and Grill in the Tomken and Rathburn area, the Kerala, India-inspired Chimney Fresh, the eternally popular and deliciously tasty Udupi Madras Cafe, the near-legendary (and 100 per cent vegetarian) Guru Lukshmi and our number one pick, the beloved chain resto Saravanaa Bhavan. While Saravanaa Bhavan is our number one, all of the aforementioned restaurants are ideal dosa hotspots.

Brampton

Top 5 Dosas in Brampton

Brampton is known as being one of the best cities to go to for Indian cuisine, and its dosas are more than up to snuff. Some spots worth checking out? The cozy—and very reasonably priced—Yarl Dosa Corner, the always satisfying Nilgiri’s Restaurant (which is known for its delicious chutney), the meat and dessert-dosa heaven Madras Cafe, the relatively new and chicly decorated Simply South, and our number one pick, the mysore masala dosa destination, Anjappar Chettinad. While Anjappar Chettinad is our number one, there’s no shortage of exceptional dosa joints in Brampton.

We asked you which city has the best Indian food and you voted.

Here are the results!

And on the website:

On the website, Mississauga beat out Brampton 74.39 per cent to 25.61 per cent, but it looks like Instagram users were more torn, with Mississauga garnering just 57 per cent of the vote.
