An award-winning Hamilton restaurant has plans for a new venture.

Berkeley North just announced they will be opening a new restaurant called BNLocal.

Berkeley North, located near the Hamilton Art Gallery, at 31 King William St., is known for its high-end, local dishes.

Owners Matt and Diana Webber say they were inspired to open Berkeley North after a trip to California. They enjoyed restaurants that highlighted sharing plates with consciously sourced ingredients.

“After dinner in Berkeley California we had the idea to open a restaurant in our hometown and bring our experience up North,” they write on the website.

They have won several awards including OpenTable Top 100 Restaurants in Canada in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

And now they plan to open a new restaurant, BNLocal, in a former neighbourhood pub — Ray’s Place, The Boathouse at 303 Dundurn St. S.

“We are excited to announce a new addition to the Berkeley North family,” Berkeley North wrote on Instagram.

“This Spring we will be opening a new casual and fun concept at the corner of Dundurn and Stanley, We are proud to announce BNLocal, which will open in the previous location of Ray’s Boat House, and will continue the history of a true neighbourhood hangout.”

The opening date is not yet listed but those interested can learn more, on Instagram at
@bnlocal.
