One of Canada’s biggest classic and muscle car shows – emphasis on the word ‘muscle’ – returns to Oshawa’s Lakeview Park with a roar this weekend.

Autofest Nationals, an event presented by the Motor City Car Club since 1994, is expected to bring thousands of visitors to the Motor City to have a look at nearly 1,500 exhibitors and their cars: the first full scale show since 2019.

From Corvettes to Corvairs to Camaros and from Dusters to Daytonas and Mustangs to Model Ts, oh my, Autofest will have it all.

Organizers held a modified version last year attracting about 200 vehicles and their drivers who made a few community stops on a road tour. The 2020 show was cancelled altogether, though organizers still produced a t-shirt declaring it the “greatest show that never happened.”

More than $9,600 was raised in those two years for the Grandview Children’s Centre, the charity of choice since the inaugural event at General Motors headquarters 28 years ago.

Autofest has raised nearly $400,000 since then.

As always, the show kicks off with the Kars on King show and shine Friday from 3:30 to 9 p.m. in downtown Oshawa before the main event moves down to the lake, starting at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

In addition to the hundreds of classic and muscle cars on display Autofest will also have a vendors’ row, food trucks, product demos, a kids zone, a Classy Classics fashion show. a Women’s Craft World and a silent auction of automobile collectibles.
