Despite earlier predictions that the GTA would see a sunny weekend, the updated forecast shows skies will remain cloudy and rainy on Saturday.

The sky will be largely overcast throughout April 20, according to Environment Canada sensors at Pearson Airport.

While the day will be largely cloudy, there will be some bursts of sunshine on the GTA including between 9 a.m. and noon and later between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Temperatures will remain moderate throughout Saturday, peaking at 9 degrees by 5 p.m.

Winds will remain low reaching about 30 km/h around noon. However, they may gust up to 50 km/h for a brief period in the early afternoon.

However, despite some sun, the risk of showers will persist at 30 per cent from noon to 5 p.m. After that skies will remain cloudy until nightfall at least.

Sunday and Monday are now set to be the sunny day southern Ontario has been waiting for with clear skies and a temperate 12 degrees expected both days.
