Police have made a second opium bust in Brampton following investigations into drug trafficking.
The OPP says the probe began in April, and that police searched both a vehicle and a property in Brampton where approximately 81 grams of opium were seized.
Investigators say they also recovered “items consistent with the sale and trafficking of drugs,” like a cell phone, digital scales and packaging materials.
The OPP says Jaspreet Singh, 24, of Brampton, has been charged with two counts of trafficking in a schedule I substance – opioid, and possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville at a later date.
The bust follows an announcement last week that the OPP seized over 100 grams of opium in Brampton. Officers from Collingwood and Orillia assisted in the investigation, and police say a residence and a vehicle in Brampton were searched.
Approximately 116 grams of opium, an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency, cell phones, digital scales and packaging materials were seized, investigators say.
