Over 100 grams of opium seized in drug bust leads to charges for Brampton man

Provincial police have charged a Brampton man after seizing more than 100 grams of opium in a raid.

The investigation into suspected drug trafficking started in April, the OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit says.

Officers from Collingwood and Orillia assisted in the investigation, and police say a residence and a vehicle in Brampton were searched.

Approximately 116 grams of opium, an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency, cell phones, digital scales and packaging materials were seized, investigators say.

The OPP says Puneetpal Singh, 23, of Brampton has been charged with multiple offences including two counts of trafficking in a schedule I substance – opioid.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton at a later date.

Police say anyone who suspects illegal activity in their community can report it to Caledon OPP by calling 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips may also be provided to Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477 or visiting www.ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
