A 48-year-old father from Hamilton says he’s booking a trip to Barbados with his wife now that he’s $250,000 richer.

Jeffrey Leek won the top prize playing Instant Turbo from the Ontario lottery.

Leek works in the automotive industry and says he’s been a regular lottery player since he was 19.

The winning ticket was purchased at Big Bear Food Mart on Concession St.

“I picked up this ticket at a store I never go to in a different area of town,” he shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings.

“When I took a closer look and saw all the zeros, I was shocked,” he said. “I texted my wife and told her we just won $250,000 and she didn’t believe me.”

Leek and his wife went to the store together to validate the ticket.

“It was awesome, we had our arms around each other with big smiles. It was an amazing moment for us.”

Along with his trip, Leek plans to pay some bills and invest for retirement.

Instant Turbo is available for $10 and the odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.67.
