All-way stop signs coming to seven Clarington intersections

Seven intersections in Bowmanville and Courtice will get the ultimate in ‘traffic calming’ this spring when all-way stop signs are installed.
The Municipality of Clarington is implementing new all-way stops at the intersections between now and June.
Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster says municipal staff regularly monitors traffic flow throughout the community and makes changes to help ensure driver, pedestrian and cyclist safety and to adapt to the changing traffic patterns, behaviours and conditions.
“Traffic concerns are probably the most frequent of issues that we hear about from our residents,” Foster said. “These new all way stops are an attempt to make our streets safer, but traffic safety is largely in the hands of drivers. I’d urge everyone to please follow the rules of the road and help keep everyone safe.”
The following intersections will be getting all-way stop signs:
- Aspen Springs Drive at West Side Drive (Bowmanville)
- Bons Avenue at Gimblett Drive and Honeyman Drive (Bowmanville)
- Mearns Avenue at Longworth Avenue (Bowmanville)
- Rhonda Boulevard at Lawrence Gate (Bowmanville)
- Sandringham Drive at Strathallan Drive (Courtice)
- Sandringham Drive at Glenabbey Drive (Courtice)
- Trulls Road at George Reynolds Drive (Courtice)
Advisory signs are in place to let drivers know of the upcoming change. The new stop signs have been installed but will remain covered until the pavement markings have been added.
