Any Ajax resident looking to use the towns recreation facilities will need to provide proof they’ve received both shots of the COVID-19 vaccine starting September 22.

Prospective patrons 12 or older need to bring two vaccine receipts and government ID to confirm their name and birthdate. Children under 11 and participants in organized sports under age 17 are exempt. People with medical exemptions will need a doctors note.

Ajax is handling Human Rights Code exemptions case-by-case, and may ask for more paperwork as proof.

The town advises residents to arrive 10 minutes before their program starts so an attendant can verify the vaccine receipt. They’ll then crosscheck the ID before allowing admission.

Residents can also apply for a fast pass which will replace the need for government ID for youth 12-17. Residents can pick them up at the Ajax Community Centre, the McLean Community Centre or the Audley Recreation Centre. The youth must have an ID to get the fast pass, but it won’t be needed afterwards.

Ontario residents can get their vaccine receipts from the Ministry of Health.
