Ajax boxer Sukhdeep Singh Bhatti kept his professional record unblemished with an eighth-round TKO of fellow Indian fighter Sagar Narwat at Brampton’s CAA Centre last weekend to add the IBO Asia-Pacific Super Welterweight title to his Canadian Middleweight crown.

Bhatti, who moved to 15-0 with the win, dominated Narwat (14-2-1) with his slick boxing skills and the Indo-Canadian fighter, who won every round on the judge’s scorecards, stopped his opponent in the eighth round with a flurry of punches.

In the co-main event Shakeel Phinn (25-3-1) of Brossard, PQ scored a unanimous decision over Oakville’s Ryan Young (15-5-1) in a ten-round super middleweight bout to capture the vacant IBO America’s title.

Middleweight Melinda Watpool, deprived of a fight the previous month in Pickering when her scheduled opponent failed to make her flight, is now 3-0 as a pro after Angelica Flores (13-2) of Mexico couldn’t continue in the fourth round.

Other fights on the card saw Kestna Davis of Jamaica (5-0) score a six-round unanimous decision over Jose Bolanos of Mexico (2-7-1) and Antonio Scaringi (2-0-1) get the same result over Daniel Roach (2-2-2). Both were middleweight fights.

Carlietto Santoro of Edmonton won his featherweight bout when Thomas Francis of Ajax retired in the fourth round and Mponda Kalunga of Toronto moved to 11-2 with an eight-round unanimous decision victory over Uriel Hernandez of Mexico (13-8) in a super welterweight bout.
