Air Canada has added more flights from Pearson Airport in Mississauga to major South American destinations.

And as it continues to recover from a dramatic reduction in global flights brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, Canada’s flagship carrier has also announced its plans to deliver passengers to locations throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East and India in 2022.

Following are the latest additions to Air Canada’s Pearson Airport-to-South America service:

• flights to Bogota, Colombia will increase to four per week starting Nov. 7

• flights to Sao Paulo, Brazil will increase to daily service starting Dec. 6

• flights to Santiago, Chile will resume January 2022 (three per week)

• flights to Buenos Aires, Argentina will resume at a date to be determined (Argentina is reopening to international tourists starting Nov. 1)

Air Canada is also resuming flights to South America out of Montreal as it looks to reconnect passengers with that part of the world.

Airline officials note that flights to Bogota will allow passengers to easily connect with other Colombian destinations as well as locations throughout South America.

“By resuming services from Montreal and adding capacity from Toronto, Air Canada is demonstrating its strong commitment to the Brazilian, Argentinian, Colombian and Chilean markets,” said Mark Galardo, a senior vice-president at Air Canada. “This increased presence will not only allow for greater leisure travel, but it will also help spur the economic recovery and facilitate business connections. Air Canada has a long-standing presence in Brazil, operating from Toronto for several decades, contributing to the strong business relationship between the two countries.”

Air Canada is quickly upping its international service to get people moving in the air once again.

This past Friday, the carrier announced three additional weekly flights from Pearson to Delhi, increasing that number to 10 flights per week.

That schedule adjustment came after Pearson Airport, and airports across Canada, once again began accepting flights from India on Sept. 26 after a four-month suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Air Canada has also unveiled its summer 2022 schedule for Europe, Africa, the Middle East and India.

In addition to its established year-round services, the carrier announced a return to key summer seasonal destinations such as Barcelona, Venice, Nice, Manchester, Edinburgh and Reykjavik.

In total, seasonal flights will be offered to some 30 destinations across the Atlantic, airline officials say.

Year-round service to Amsterdam and Lyon starts this December.
