After $100,000 lottery win, Welland man is jetting off to Disneyland

Collecting a $100,000 lottery win is hardly Mickey Mouse. In fact, for one Welland man, he felt positively Goofy.
When Thomas Ferguson, 46, of Welland matched the last six of seven ENCORE numbers in exact order in the February 8 LOTTO 6/49, he said part of the $100,000 would go to visiting Disneyland.
A regular lottery player who has a lottery subscription on OLG.ca, Ferguson said, “I use a combination of family birthdays” for his ticket numbers.
Ferguson said when he saw an email from OLG that told him he won $100,000, he couldn’t believe it.
“I started counting the zeros then called OLG right away. I was ecstatic – I couldn’t believe my eyes,” he said. “I told my five-year-old to go tell his mom we won $100,000, and she came over to me asking, ‘What just happened?!’ She was so excited,” he laughed.
As well as a trip to Disney, he plans to pay off his vehicle, complete some home renovations, and put some towards his mortgage.
