There is a heat warning in effect this weekend in Oshawa and Pickering (Aug 21, 2021).

These hot and humid weather is going to stay with us this weekend and push into early next week.

Temperatures in Durham Region might hit has high as 40c with the humidex and the lows at night will be near 22c.

The temperature without the humidex during the peak will be around 31c.

Sunday’s temperatures might be a couple of degrees lower then Saturday but there is a good chance they might go up again early next week.

Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can cause the Air Quality Health Index to approach the high risk category.

The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place.

Seek a cool place such as a tree-shaded area, swimming pool, shower or bath, or air-conditioned spot like a public building.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
