There’s one Port Colborne family that will have plenty to give thanks about when the family gets together for their Thanksgiving dinner this weekend.

Brother and sister team Richard Smith and Evelyn Fox won the guaranteed $1 Million Prize in the August 31 LOTTO 6/49 draw.

The pair of siblings said they are regular lottery players. “Evelyn came by the house and I asked if she checked our ticket yet. She said ‘No, we never win!’ So I went inside to check it using the OLG App and saw the Big Winner screen,” shared Richard while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up their big cheque.

“Richard stopped in his tracks and made me look at the screen,” said Evelyn. “I was frozen and overwhelmed!”

“It’s been crazy and so awesome,” added Richard.

Richard plans to retire with his windfall. “It will be nice to spend winter watching snow through the window, knowing I won’t have to go out in it,” he smiled. Evelyn plans to purchase a new vehicle and invest the rest for her future.

“It’s so unbelievable – I am very happy,” Evelyn concluded.

The winning ticket was purchased at 7-Eleven on Clarence Street in Port Colborne.
