Officers from Durham Police’s West Division are on the hunt for a woman wanted in a stabbing in Ajax Monday morning that sent one man to a Toronto trauma centre with serious injuries.

Police responded to the crime just before 10 a.m. Monday and found the victim, a 21 year-old man, suffering  from serious but not life-threatening injuries. The stabbing happened on Montebello Court, which is a residential street north of Williamson Drive between Harwood Avenue and Westney Road.

The only information so far released on the suspect is that she is a woman and she fled on foot.

The K-9 Unit assisted and searched the area but could not find her. This is an isolated incident, police say, and the suspect and victim are known to each other.

Police are looking for witnesses or any evidence that would help in the case.

Anyone with new information is asked to contact D/Cst. Suthers of the West Division Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2595.
