81-year-old woman fatally struck and killed by cyclist in Niagara-on-the-Lake

Niagara Regional Police Service are seeking the public’s assistance with an ongoing collision investigation that involved a cyclist who allegedly struck and killed a pedestrian in the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake on Saturday afternoon.

On Saturday (Apr. 1) 2023, at approximately 1:40 p.m., police responded to a crash site involving a cyclist and pedestrian near Queenston St/Dee Rd in the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Police believe that an 81-year-old resident was on Queenston St and began to cross the roadway from the east side to the west side when she was hit by a 64-year-old cyclist travelling southbound.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital by paramedics, but despite lifesaving measures the 81-year-old woman was pronounced dead, officers say.

Police have not mentioned in their report if the cyclist sustained any injuries.

NRPS say the investigations are ongoing as the circumstances related to the cause of the collision are still unknown.
