5 things to do in Hamilton this weekend (Aug. 27 to 29)

We’ve come to another weekend, Hamilton, and this one is going to be hot on so many levels.

Firstly, it’s going to be quite warm out there so be sure to stay hydrated and cool. Secondly, there are a lot of fun things happening around town and there’s a little something for everyone.

To help you narrow down your weekend plans, here are 5 things happening in Hamilton this weekend (Aug. 27 to 29).

5. Night market

Hamilton’s harbourfront is where it’s at on the weekends and this weekend won’t disappoint. The Hamilton Harbourfront Night Market offers attendees a culinary adventure featuring eats produced by some of the best in the food biz from near and far. The event also features a beer tent and a merchant area. Festivities kicked off on Thursday but continue through the weekend: Friday: 12pm-12am; Sat: 12pm-12am; Sun: 12pm-6pm at Bayfront Park.

4. Ribfest


The Rotary Club of Hamilton AM is hosting Ribfest at Gage Park this weekend, brought to Hamilton by Northern Heat Rib Series. The weekend will feature live music, festival treats and eats and award-winning barbecue. This weekend’s event will also host a craft beer market featuring some of the best brewers in Ontario and a beer tent. The festival runs Friday: 4pm-11pm; Saturday: 12pm-11pm; Sunday: 12pm-7pm. 3. Vintage Pop-Up

This weekend’s Pier 8 Pop-Up welcomes Hamilton’s vintage community. Fifteen vendors will be set up selling everything from clothing and accessories, to housewares and furniture, to records and one-of-a-kind items. There will also be food vendors and Collective Arts will be serving up brews on the Hamilton Waterfront Trust Patio. The pop-up runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

2. Live comedy

Comedian Mayce Galoni, who has appeared on This Hour Has 22 Minutes and is a regular on CBC’s The Debaters, is coming through Hamilton this weekend and will be appearing at Levity Comedy Club & Lounge on Saturday at 8 p.m. For tickets and more information, visit Levity’s website.

The live music scene is alive and well in Hamilton and there are a number of places to check out this weekend. The Casbah has a few shows and a DJ lined up this weekend, as does Absinthe. There is also a couple of live stream shows happening this weekend, including Danko Jones’ North American Power Trio Album Release Concert live from Hamilton’s Bridgeworks on Saturday as well as Supercrawl’s Bridgeworks Livestream Series, which will feature Luckystickz and Angela Nethersole on Sunday.
