Well, it’s officially that time of year again (whether you like it or not) … it’s time for students to head back to school. And while it’s always a bit sad to see the summer come to an end, there’s something exciting about the fresh start that September brings.

If you’re heading back to the classroom, you’ve probably already taken some time to get prepared – buying supplies, touring the campus (if you’re heading to college or university), etc. However, one thing that students may not have thought about yet is where they are doing to study and get homework done.

While it’s typically easiest to just study at home, or on campus, a change of scenery every now and then is never a bad thing. With that said, here are five great places to study right here in Halton.

5. Study Rooms at the Halton Hills Public Library

Location: Halton Hills

Georgetown branch location – 9 Church St.

Acton branch location: 17 River St.

Wi-Fi: yes

If you’re looking for a quiet place to study this school year, the study rooms available at the Georgetown and Acton branch of the Halton Hills Public Library is the way to go. Each room can sit up to four people, there is wi-fi, and those who book the rooms are welcome to stay for up to two hours.

Study rooms can be reserved in person, by phone, or online.

Note that a Halton Hills Public Library card is required.

4. Make Café & Catering

What’s better than studying at a trendy and cozy café? Nothing.

Make Café & Catering, formerly called Hawthorne Café, has wi-fi, a patio, paninis, coffee, and so much more. It is relaxing and calm – the perfect atmosphere for studying or getting work done.

Note that the café hosts open mic nights on the last Friday of every month, so things may be a bit noisy then.

3. Hidden Valley Park

Location: 1137 Hidden Valley Rd., Burlington, ON

Wi-Fi: no

Call me crazy but sometimes I used to love studying outside and getting some fresh air (especially in the fall when all trees changed colours). If you’re someone who also likes studying outside, Hidden Valley Park in Burlington is a great option.

Located within the Aldershot community, Hidden valley has nature trails, picnic areas, and so much more. So, whether you want to walk around and read some notes or sit down and get some work done, Hidden Valley can accommodate.

Keep in mind that there is no wi-fi, so if you plan on heading out here you may want to make it a laptop-free study session.

Aroma has just about everything you could need while studying – wi-fi, hand-crafted salads and sandwiches, bread and pastries, signature drinks, and more. All that topped off with the establishment’s warm and inviting atmosphere makes for a great study and work location.
