5 people charged after stolen vehicle crashes into Hamilton Police cruiser

Five people face multiple charges in a case where the driver of a stolen vehicle hit a marked police cruiser and pointed a fake gun at officers.

The incident began on Wednesday, June 14, when a vehicle reported stolen from Paris, Ontario and was found near Limeridge Mall in Hamilton, Hamilton Police Service said in a press release today (July 12).

When officers responded, the driver of the vehicle reported stolen hit a marked police cruiser and fled, police said. A short time later the vehicle was found abandoned in another part of Hamilton.

In the same investigation, in the city’s east end, detectives found another vehicle reported stolen and the driver rammed police vehicles. One person pointed a firearm at police.

The firearm was later deemed to be a replica not capable of firing bullets however it appeared authentic, police said. Detectives were able to safely arrest the occupants of this stolen vehicle and no one was injured, police added.

Five Hamilton residents face charges:

Cody Atkinson, a 22-year-old man from Hamilton, faces vehicle theft; possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000; and possession of a stolen credit card charges.

Jordan Entwistle, a 26-year-old man from Hamilton, faces point firearm; use imitation firearm in commission of offence; dangerous operation of a vehicle, operation of a vehicle while prohibited; and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 charges.

Reed Vanry, a 26-year-old man from Hamilton, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000; and occupant of a motor vehicle without consent.

Lorraine Lewis, a 23-year-old woman from Hamilton, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000; and occupant of a motor vehicle without consent.

Devan Hill, a 22-year-old man from Hamilton, was charged with vehicle theft; possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000; fail to stop; dangerous operation of a vehicle; and possession/use of stolen credit card.

The investigation remains on-going and more charges are expected, police added.
