40 year-old man shot and killed in Brampton believed to be targeted

A man who died this morning from gunshot wounds in Brampton was targeted, police say.

According to Peel Regional Police, a 40-year-old man found at the intersection of Kennedy Road South and Stafford Drive with gunshot wounds and later died in the hospital is believed to have been targeted. However, authorities have not confirmed if the victim was the intended target.

With the investigation in its early stages, officers have yet to confirm whether the suspect or suspects were known to the victim.

In addition, officials have not released information on the victim, including his name and place of residence.

Suspect images and descriptions are unavailable at this time, police say.

Kennedy Road South and Stafford Drive are currently closed, and drivers are asked to avoid the area for the time being.

An ETA for when the roadways will reopen to the public has not been provided.
