A recall has been initiated for a NÜTRL branded 30 oz. stainless steel tumbler cup made by Sunscope. These tumblers were given as a promotional gift with the purchase of a case of 12 or 15 NÜTRL seltzers, available at LCBO and other liquor stores across Canada.

According to Canada.ca, testing revealed that some tumblers may contain a chemical solution trapped between the inner walls, containing sulfuric and phosphoric acids. When filled with liquid, this solution may leak.

The interaction with the tumbler may also lead to higher levels of iron, chromium, and nickel. Ingestion or skin contact with these substances can cause various health issues, including burns, pain, nausea, and diarrhea.

The company reported that approximately 33,000 units were distributed to consumers between April 29 to May 17, 2024.

Risks: Chemical and ingestion hazards.

What you should do: Discontinue using the recalled product and contact Sedgwick for more information.

As of May 23, 2024, Sunscope has received 43 reports from consumers experiencing symptoms, with the most common being headache, nausea, abdominal cramping or pain, and diarrhea.
