A million-dollar Lotto Max ticket from last month was shared by three lucky winners, including an Oshawa man who gets to pocket his one-third share of more than $333,000.
Kevin Bezhani’s ticket was one of three that split a $1 million Maxmillions prize on December 19, with each winner receiving $333,333.40.
Bezhani, a 27-year-old construction worker, said he’s been playing the lottery with OLG on and off for a few years, and Lotto Max has been his go-to game. “I noticed the jackpot was large and I wanted a chance to win, so I thought, ‘Why not buy a ticket?’” he shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect his windfall.
The next day he checked his ticket using the OLG app on his phone and discovered his big win. “I was in shock and couldn’t believe it,” he recalled. “I had to check it a few times to make sure I was seeing things correctly.”
The first person Bezhani shared the news with was his dad. “I walked over to him and scanned the ticket using the OLG app on his phone to make sure it wasn’t a glitch on my end. He was so happy and excited for me.”
With his winnings, Bezhani will look into buying a home, add to his savings, and enjoy life.
“It’s a great feeling to win. It still feels a bit surreal.”
Lotto Max players in Ontario have won nearly $10 billion since 2009, including 119 jackpot wins and 997 Maxmillions prizes. Lotto Max is $5 per play and draws take place on Tuesdays and Fridays.
The winning ticket was purchased at Petro-Canada on Simcoe St. N. in Oshawa.
