From slow-smoked meats to rich curries and Mediterranean-inspired dishes, December brought a fresh mix of restaurant openings for foodies.

Here are three restaurants that opened in the GTA:

Kabbana Bar + Grill

Kabbana Bar + Grill has opened a new Mediterranean fusion restaurant in Mississauga’s Port Credit neighbourhood.

The restaurant blends Mediterranean, Spanish, Lebanese, Greek and Moroccan flavours, offering a menu that includes paella, mixed grills, tagine and classic salads.

Kabbana is located at 139 Lakeshore Rd. E., a space that has been home to several restaurants over the years.

In addition to dining service, the restaurant also operates as a bar and hosts special events.

Uncle Sam’s Bar and Grill

Uncle Sam’s Bar and Grill has opened a new location in downtown Milton, marking the restaurant’s second location after its original Hamilton spot.

The barbecue restaurant officially opened on Dec. 18 at 370 Main St. E.

Known for smoked meats prepared using dry rubs and cherrywood smoking, the menu includes brisket, pulled pork, ribs and smoked chicken, along with burgers, sandwiches and comfort food dishes.

The Milton location also operates as a bar with late-night service.

Veerar Dine In and Catering

Veerar has opened a new location in Oshawa, expanding the Tamil restaurant’s presence in the GTA.

Located on Taunton Rd. W., the opening marks the restaurant’s second location, following a vegetarian-only spot in Markham.

The Oshawa restaurant focuses on meat-based dishes while continuing to offer vegetarian options. Menu items include biryani, kothu roti, fried rice, curries and South Indian staples such as dosa and idly.
