3 restaurants that closed in Mississauga, Oshawa and Hamilton in April 2026

It’s always disappointing to see local dining spots suddenly close their doors, whether temporarily or indefinitely, especially places that became go-to destinations for regular customers over the years. Here are three restaurants in Mississauga, Oshawa and Hamilton that shut down in April.

Legends of Fazio’s

A downtown Oshawa steakhouse has shut down after allegedly owing nearly $70,000 in back rent.

Legends of Fazio’s opened in 2019 at 33 Simcoe St. S., paying tribute to the original Fazio’s restaurant, a longtime downtown Oshawa staple known for its extensive wine cellar before closing in 2017.

A notice posted on the restaurant’s front door by a bailiff stated the locks had been changed and alleged the business owed $69,911.94 in unpaid rent. The notice also said any removal of personal property would require permission from the landlord.

The restaurant has remained closed since the notice was posted.

Piper Arms Stoney Creek

A Hamilton restaurant has been temporarily shut down amid a Salmonella outbreak investigation linked to several illnesses.

Hamilton Public Health said nine cases of Salmonella infection have been connected to Piper Arms Stoney Creek, located at 1786 Stone Church Rd. E., with several people hospitalized.

Public health officials said impacted diners developed symptoms including diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain and chills between March 30 and April 5.

The restaurant was ordered closed on April 13 while inspectors review food handling and sanitation practices. Officials said no specific food item has yet been identified as the source of the outbreak.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Mazadar Foods

A Mississauga restaurant was temporarily closed following a recent health inspection.

Mazadar Foods, located at 315 Traders Blvd. E., was shut down on April 22 after inspectors allegedly found issues related to food storage, pest prevention and sanitation.

According to the inspection report, some infractions were corrected during the inspection, though the restaurant remained closed pending a follow-up inspection.

This marked the second red card issued to the restaurant after a previous failed inspection in November 2025.

The restaurant later reopened after passing a follow-up inspection on April 27.
