3 restaurants that closed in Mississauga and Brampton in July 2025

Some restaurants close quietly. Others announce their next chapter with excitement or a heartfelt goodbye. This past month, three familiar spots in Mississauga and Brampton closed their doors—each with a unique story and a loyal following behind them.

Wanda’s Caribbean Kitchen

Wanda’s Caribbean Kitchen closed its Clarkson location at 1842 Lakeshore Rd. W. in Mississauga.

The restaurant was known for its homestyle island dishes, including jerk chicken, curry goat, oxtail, fried plantains. Their Ackee and Saltfish with Fried Dumplings were staples, while their coconut bun received a lot of praise.

However, the Caribbean restaurant won’t be gone for long. A post on Instagram confirmed they’ll be reopening just down the street at 1722 Lakeshore Rd. W.

“Wanda’s is moving to a brand-new space nearby!” the post said. “We’ll be closing for a short time to get everything ready, but trust us—it’ll be worth the wait.”

The official opening date is expected to be announced soon.

Another restaurant, Gulab – Fine Indian Cuisine, is set to take over Wanda’s former space at 1842 Lakeshore Rd. W., according to the Gulab website. No opening date has been confirmed.

Kobe Sizzlers

Kobe Sizzlers, a grilled meat restaurant located at 808 Britannia Rd. in Mississauga, has officially closed its doors.

The owners announced the closure on Instagram, thanking guests for their support. “We would like to inform you that our restaurant will be closing in two weeks,” they wrote.

Known for its sizzling cast-iron platters and Indo-Western fusion menu, Kobe Sizzlers offered a dramatic dining experience with dishes that arrived steaming at the table.

The restaurant’s signature items included the Kobe Special Chicken, Hokkaido Chicken, and the Mixed Grill — a platter of steak, chicken, prawns and fish topped with a fried egg.

Vegetarian favourites included the Paneer Cheese Sizzler and Veg Satellite, while guests also raved about their Sizzling Poutine Fries and Chicken Lollipop appetizers.

The Mississauga location opened in late 2015 and was part of an international chain that began in Mumbai in 1975.

While no reopening has been announced, the Instagram post hinted at future plans: “While this chapter is coming to an end, we’re excited about what the future holds and look forward to sharing our upcoming plans with you.”

Di Giovanni Bakery & Catering

CLOSURE: Italian bakery shuts down soon after over 40 years in Brampton

After 43 years in business, Di Giovanni Bakery & Catering in Brampton shuttered its doors at the end of July.

Located at Queen Street East and Torbram Road, the bakery posted a message announcing the sale of the business and their plans to retire.

“This decision was not made lightly and we are incredibly grateful for your loyalty, encouragement and the relationships we’ve built over the years,” the message read.

Owners Frank and Renato said they’re looking forward to spending time with family and going fishing.

The family-run bakery and catering shop has served generations of Brampton residents with fresh bread, hot table meals and Italian desserts.
