Two people have died following a fiery crash on Highway 400 early Thursday.
Emergency crews responded to reports of a single-vehicle collision involving an SUV in the northbound lanes of the highway near Crooked Bay Road in Georgian Bay shortly after 3 a.m., Ontario Provincial Police said.
Crooked Bay Road is about 75 kilometres north of Barrie.
The SUV had subsequently caught fire, the OPP said.
Police said both people in the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene.
The identities of the two people are being withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin, police added.
Highway 400 was closed between White Falls Road and Muskoka Road 38 for several hours for the investigation, but has since reopened.
