17-year-old shot as police look for witnesses in Mississauga

A teenager and a young man have been charged in connection to a shooting in Mississauga that left a 17-year-old boy wounded. Police have appealed to the public for any witnesses.

Around 8:30 p.m on May 28 shots rang out in the Aquitaine Ave and Montevideo Rd area. When Peel Regional Police arrived they found the teen boy on the ground suffering gunshot wounds. First responders rushed the teen to hospital. He has since been released.

Meanwhile, police found suspects in a car trying to flee the scene. There were three people in the car, which struck a police cruiser in the escape attempt.

After the crash the trio took off on foot. Officers arrested two people a short ways away, but the third man eluded them. Investigators also found a gun at the scene.

Yacin Bohras, 19 of Mississauga has been charged with several offences including; attempted murder, fleeing police, failure to stop after a collision, unauthorized possession of a gun, knowingly possessing a gun while unauthorized, occupying a car knowing there was a gun, possession of a loaded gun, and possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Additionally, a 17-year-old boy was arrested and charged with some of the same offenses including; attempted murder, unauthorized possession of firearm, knowingly possessing a gun while unauthorized, occupying a car knowing there was gun, and possession of a loaded gun.

The 17-year-old’s identity is protected by the Youth Criminal Justice act.

Both of those arrested remained in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for May 29 at Brampton’s Ontario Court of Justice.

Police are calling on an witnesses of the shooting who may be able to identify the third suspect to come forward. Investigators describe the third man as  16 to 23 years old, wearing dark clothes. He may be armed with a pistol.
