A 17-year-old girl is dead following a crash in Caledon this week and investigators are asking for any potential witnesses to come forward.

The OPP says police and emergency crews were called to a stretch of Innis Lake Road near Finnerty Sideroad in Caledon just after 9 a.m. on Thursday (Sept. 28) following a single-vehicle crash.

Peel Paramedics told Insauga.com that a female was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, and police confirmed on Friday that the 17-year-old victim was later pronounced dead.

There were no other occupants in the vehicle, police said, and the victim’s name has not been released.

Innis Lake Road was closed for several hours between Finnerty and Patterson Sideroads while police were at the scene of the crash and investigators are asking witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area around the time of the collision to come forward to police.

Anyone with information about this incident can contact the Caledon OPP by calling 905-584-2241 or 1-888-310-1122. Family and friends of the victim, or anyone affected by the crash can also call 905-951-3838 to speak to Caledon/Dufferin Victim Services.
