15-year-old Hamilton cyclist in critical condition after being struck by bus: Police

A Hamilton teen is in critical but stable condition in a local hospital after he was struck by a bus while cycling on the Mountain on Thursday (Dec. 16).

According to Hamilton Police, the incident occurred at around 7:30 p.m. in the area of Stone Church and Upper Wentworth when the 15-year-old cyclist was struck by a bus turning right onto Upper Wentworth.

The boy was transported to McMaster Hospital with life-threatening injuries where he remains in critical but stable condition.

“Due to the nature of the injuries, the Collision Reconstruction Unit attended the scene and has taken carriage of the investigation,” police said in a press release.

“Speed and/or impairment were not factors in this collision.”
