One teen has been arrested and police are looking for multiple other suspects after an assault in St. Catharines earlier this weekend.
Just before 8 p.m. on Friday, Niagara Regional Police were called for reports of a disturbance at Lakeside Park in Port Dalhousie.
“Witnesses reported several teenage females attacking another teenage female out near the snack shack located within the park,” said police.
Officers located a 17-year-old girl suffering from injuries to her head and face.
Police identified and apprehended one of the suspects, a 15-year-old girl from St. Catharines. Her identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Police have not provided a description of the other suspects at this time.
“There have been other reports of disturbances at the beach in Port Dalhousie this year and 1 District has increased their uniform presence in the area with enforcement as the top priority,” police said.
The investigation is ongoing.
