Video captures spectacular car fire on Hwy. 403 in Mississauga

A video captures a vehicle fire that slowed traffic on Highway 403.

The video posted on Reddit shows what appears to be a yellow Dodge Challenger consumed by fire Sunday (June 25).

“403 eastbound by cawthra right now,” the post reads.

There were no reports of injuries due to the fire but it closed lanes for a short time.

The Ministry of Transportation reported a vehicle fire shut down two eastbound lanes on Highway 403 near Hurontario Road on Sunday (June 25) around 8 p.m.  

The poster on Reddit indicated traffic had slowed in the area as emergency crews arrived.

No other vehicles were involved and there was no further information on the cause of the fire.

The fire follows a serious incident on Highway 403 the day before (June 24) where a car hit a guardrail and a Peel Regional Police (PRP) officer discharged a firearm.
