A transport truck driver is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash into an Oshawa vehicle storage lot on Saturday.

Police were called to Oshawa’s Wentworth Street and Stevenson Road area at 5:16 p.m. February 11 after reports of a serious crash.

A tractor trailer was travelling east down Wentworth Street. As it approached Stevenson Road, the truck left the roadway, jumped the curb and crossed the grass boulevard.

The truck continued through a fence and into a car storage lot causing extensive damage. EMS arrived within minutes and took the driver, 73, to hospital in life-threatening condition.

Investigators believe the driver suffered a medical episode prior to losing control of the vehicle. He remains in hospital in critical, but stable condition.

DRPS collision investigators closed the area down for several hours to collect evidence. Anyone with information about the crash can call D/Cst. Scott at 905-579-1520 ext 5217, or Crime Stoppers at  1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
