‘Home alone’ course to be offered for youth in Milton

Youth who are interested in completing a “home alone” course, will have the opportunity to do so this weekend in Milton.

The course, which is being hosted by SOS 4 KIDS INC., aims to empower youth with the confidence and skills to care for themselves when home alone.

It is taking place on Saturday, Oct. 22 at St. Paul’s United Church, located at 123 Main St. E.

Through the course, participants will learn problem-solving and decision-making skills to handle emergencies, strategies to create a safe and positive environment and ways to prevent injuries.

Additionally, they will learn about online safety, how to deal with strangers, basic first aid, fire safety and accident prevention, healthy snack choices and age-appropriate activities and games.

The length of the course is six hours and it will be taught by facilitators with a first aid and teaching background.

The cost of the course is $79.10 per person.
