At roughly 4:45 pm today (April 12), Niagara Police reported on their Twitter about an ongoing fire in Thorold.

While details are scarce this early on, it appears the single-storey structure is Merit Auto Centre and the fire started at 3:20 pm.

Police said the building was fully engulfed in flames and there were small explosions coming from the building.

They reported there were road closures at Beaverdams Road at Collier Road South and another at Beaverdams Road at Baker Street.

“This is a working fire. The Thorold Fire Department is the lead agency.  Please stay out of the area.”

Police believe there are no injuries to be reported at this time.
