‘Zero tolerance’ for cutting off truck, says officer after close call in Oakville

A driver has been charged Tuesday afternoon after a police video shows a silver sedan ignoring a right-turn lane near Trafalgar Rd. and Highway 401 in Oakville and “recklessly” cutting in front of a heavy truck.
Halton Regional Police and Community Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) inspector Marc Taraso was on his back to town on Trafalgar Rd. when he noticed a silver sedan “ignoring” the forced right turn lane and then squeezing in front of a fully loaded dump truck with a pup trailer.
“No excuse for this kind of driving,” said Const. Taraso. “Sedan driver charged.”
Const. Taraso didn’t hesitate to pull the driver over.

“I have zero tolerance for unsafe CMV’s,” he said on a post on X (formerly Twitter) showing his dashcam video of the incident. “I also have zero tolerance for those who drive recklessly around large CMV’s and place the entire motoring public at risk by their actions.”
Residents were thankful to the officer for helping monitor the roads.
“Awesome. Glad you caught him/her,” said Judy Crosby on X. “See this way too often.”
