Zellers to add new pop-up stores in Pickering and Oshawa malls August 11

The re-born Zellers brand is opening 21 stores across Canada next month, including pop-up locations at Pickering Town Centre and Oshawa Centre.

The Zellers pop-ups, spanning five provinces (eight are in Ontario), will happen August 11, with the new stores in Durham ranging from 1,000 sq. ft to 2,800 sq. ft.

The pop-ups will serve as strategic test markets to determine future Zellers store locations, including those within parent company Hudson Bay outlets and stand alone locations.

“Pop-ups are a key ingredient in our expansion strategy, allowing us to explore and test in new markets, gather valuable customer insights, and fine-tune our offering before establishing larger format store locations,” said Hudson Bay President Sophia Hwang-Judiesch, who said their customers “are very much part of our growth process.”

Showcasing a curated assortment of Zellers merchandise, the pop-ups deliver a bite-sized taste of Zellers. Moreover, the pop-up model provides an opportunity for Canadians to tell the company where they would like to see the next Zellers store open.
