Young offender charged in connection to Welland stabbing

Niagara Police have charged a young offender in connection with a stabbing inside a Welland restaurant yesterday (March 6).

Police were called to the restaurant on Lincoln St. near King St. at 9:15 pm and found a 15-year-old man suffering from a stab wound.

He was treated at the scene by Niagara EMS and sent to an out-of-region hospital with serious and not life threatening injuries..

The police discovered that two groups of youths including the suspect and victim had been involved in a fight. Later, the same two group saw each other in the same restaurant and things got out of hand.

During a fight between several of them, the victim got stabbed with a knife. Police quickly identified a suspect.

A 15-year-old male from Welland has been charged with assault with a weapon. The police cannot identify him as he’s a Young Offender but he was later released with a future court date. .
