A young Hamilton man has been hospitalized in critical condition after the motorcycle he was driving collided with a van in the city’s east end on Tuesday (Sept. 14).

According to Hamilton Police, just before 2:30 p.m. emergency crews were called to the intersection at Main Street E and Province Street S to reports of a crash involving a Suzuki motorcycle and a commercial van.

Police said the 18-year-old motorcycle driver was travelling westbound on Main when he struck the southbound moving truck, which was being driven by a 36-year-old man from Barrie.

Paramedics transported the motorcyclist to a local hospital in critical condition.

“Due to the severity of these injuries, the Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) was called out and has taken carriage of the investigation,” police said in a press release.

“Investigators have yet to rule out any factor in this ongoing investigation.”

Witnesses who have not yet spoken to police are being asked to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905-546-4755 or 905-546-4753.
