A young man has been charged with stunt driving through a busy commercial area in Brampton in his dad’s car.

The driver, age 21, was spotted speeding through the Mississauga Rd. and Lionhead Golf Club Rd. intersection on March 13. The area is home to the busy Lionhead Marketplace retail plaza and Lionhead Golf Course. Large suburban neighbourhoods also call the area home.

Peel Regional Police pulled their radar gun on the car as it sped by recording it at 156 km/h. The area roads have a 60 km/h speed limit.

As in any case where a driver is stopped at 50 km/h or more above the posted limit, the driver was charged with stunt driving.

This is of Ontario’s harshest Highway Traffic Act charges. If convicted the driver could lose his licence for one to three years and face a fine of $250 for a first offence.
