While a time-start and a parade route is still to be determined, one thing is certain – Santa Claus is returning to Thorold.

The annual Santa Claus Parade is coming back to the city on November 26, marking the 30th anniversary of St. Nick’s visits.

Thorold Mayor Terry Ugulini is happy his residents can finally return to line the sidewalks after a three-year absence due to the pandemic.

“This year, we recognize how truly significant the parade is for our Community. Not only does it mark the return of an in-person event, but it also kick-starts the Holiday Season,” said Ugulini.

“For 29 years, the parade has been run by dedicated volunteers who have been committed to providing City of Thorold residents with a fun and meaningful holiday celebration. We are excited to bring that vision back to life for the 30th Anniversary of the parade this year.”

To honour three decades of parade, the City is working with volunteers who were involved in previous years to incorporate some special elements and activities into this year’s edition.

The city says the parade will feature an array of festive community floats, musical talents, parade marchers and other fun entertainment, not to mention the stars of the parade, Santa and Mrs. Claus, themselves.

“I want to thank City Council, volunteers and staff for working collaboratively to execute this meaningful event for our community,” said City CAO Manoj Dilwaria. “The Santa Claus Parade is a great opportunity for residents across Thorold to come together to participate in a joyful celebration this holiday season.”

The parade route, parking details, road closures and volunteer applications are in the process of being finalized. Those interested in volunteering are encouraged to keep posted on the City’s website and social media channels for information on when the applications become available.
