Yard waste collection starting soon in Mississauga and Brampton

With all that fresh snow on the ground (and more on the way), it’s hard to believe that in a few short weeks, Brampton, Mississauga and Caledon residents will be preparing their yards and gardens for spring.

But despite winter hanging on, warmer weather is en route and with more sunshine and rain comes more yard waste.

The Region of Peel recently announced that yard waste collection will begin March 6, with Brampton and Mississauga receiving weekly service and urban areas in Caledon receiving bi-weekly service.

Rural areas of Caledon will have yard waste picked up on designated Fridays.

The region says residents should remember that yard waste must be at the curb by 7:00 am on their designated pick-up day. Residents must put waste at the curb in kraft yard waste bags (plastic bags will not be accepted) or containers clearly labelled “yard waste.”

The Region no longer accepts grass clippings at the curb or at Community Recycling Centres.
