Wrong-way driver in Oshawa tries to evade police, crashes into salter, charged with impaired

A 28 year-old man driving the wrong way up Centre Street in downtown Oshawa in the wee hours of Sunday morning was charged with impaired driving after he attempted to escape police and crashed into a salter truck.

The man was observed just after midnight driving north on the one-way southbound street when he was ordered to stop by police.

He subsequently provided a breath sample registering .220 mg, nearly three times the legal limit.
