There will be plenty of local athletes competing in Oshawa this weekend at the World Lacrosse Super Sixes, a fast-paced and high scoring version of the game that will be showcased in Los Angeles during the 2028 Olympic Games.
The men’s squad will feature hometown Oshawa star Dyson Williams – who will also shine this year for the Oshawa FireWolves – and Adam Poitras of Whitby (who suits up for the Las Vegas Desert Dogs, coached by Williams’ father Shawn), as well as Cam Sterritt and Jake Boudreau (Brampton), Latrelle Harris (St. Catharines), Sam English (Burlington) and Jon Donville (Oakville).
FireWolves midfielder Kyle Jackson will play for the Haudenosaunee Nationals.
Canada is fielding two women’s teams for this competition, with Maggie Cuddy, Jordan Dean and Binca Chevarie (Brooklin), Nicole Perroni (Whitby) and Morgan White (Milton) suiting up for Canada Red.
FireWolves scout Shonly Wallace is also on the Red’s roster.
Dylana Williams (Dyson’s sister), Kylea Dobson and Teagan Lewis, who all hail from Oshawa, will be joined on the Canada White Roster by Brooklin Welker-Welch (Courtice) and Brenna Shanahan (Mississauga).
The Super Sixes will take over Civic Fields for the event, which will feature many of the best players in the globe from both the box and field games in the Olympic Sixes, a brand that was developed in order to reduce barriers to entry for lacrosse (such as cost and field size), encourage global growth, and to fit within the framework of future Olympic participation.
The men’s competition features five teams from the Pan-American Lacrosse Association in Canada, Haudenosaunee, Mexico, United States and the U.S. Virgin Islands, four teams from Europe in Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Poland and as well as Australia from the Asia-Pacific Lacrosse Union.
Canada is the top-ranked team in men’s sixes after winning gold at the World Games in 2022, and backed that up with a win over arch-rival United States just two weeks ago in Maryland at the Atlas Cup.
The women’s competition features two squads from Canada as well as Dominican Republic, Haudenosaunee and Mexico. Germany, Ireland and Australia round out the octet.

A jubilant Canadian squad after winning gold at the 2022 World Games
The men’s team opened play Friday against Ireland at 9 a.m. while Canada Red play Dominican Republic at 11 a.m. and Canada White open against Ireland at noon.
The USA and Haudenosaunee Nationals (who will be the hunt for a medal) play on the other side of the draw.
The gold medal games will be Sunday at 12:30 p.m. (women) and 3:30 p.m. (men).
An Adult Day Pass is $15 and kids get in free with a donation of a non-perishable food item.
Good luck to our own Dyson Williams, Kyle Jackson and Shonly Wallace as they represent their nations and the FireWolves right here in Oshawa for the @WorldLacrosse Super Sixes!#LacrosseLivesHere🔥 pic.twitter.com/bo6X4F3y4S
