Mississauga will host a world premiere concert.

Juno-nominated band Sultans of String and the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra announced the world premiere of Refuge with an orchestra. The concert is on stage in February.

Refuge is a collaboration of award-winning artists who are new immigrants, refugees and global talents. The group members are ambassadors for peace.

The live concert will showcase the music and storytelling featured in the Cannes World Film Festival award-winning documentary The Refuge Project.

Toronto-based quintet, Sultans of String, made the documentary in collaboration with over 30 musicians. In addition to winning Best Music Film at Cannes World Film Festival, the film version of Refuge has also
won at the Vancouver Independent Film Festival and Boston Independent Film Awards.

“We are so excited to be able to present our collaborations that showcase and amplify essential voices”
said bandleader/producer and Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal recipient Chris McKhool. “We feel so fortunate to be able to grow as human beings and as artists through these collaborations.”

The Refuge concert world premiere with the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra will feature Leen Hamo, Majd Sukar, Donné Roberts, Saskia Tomkins, Padideh Ahrarnejad, Tamar Ilana and more.

The concert is on Feb. 8 at 8 p.m. at the Living Arts Centre, 4141 Living Arts Dr., Mississauga.

Regular concert tickets start at $40. Special pricing is available for seniors, families, youth (15 to 26 years old), and groups of 10 or more.
