Worker's falls from ladder leads to $70K fine for Mississauga company

The province has fined a Mississauga parts supplier after a worker fell from a ladder and was injured in an Ontario warehouse.

The workplace incident happened on May 10, 2025, at the Ideal Supply Inc. warehouse in Listowel, where the Mississauga-based company employs around 130 workers, Ontario’s Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development says.

A worker was retrieving items stored on industrial racking and fell four feet to the ground, leading to injuries.

An investigation by the ministry found that the worker had not been provided with adequate information, instruction and supervision regarding the safe use of ladders, and the company has been fined $70,000.

The court also imposed a 25 per cent victim fine surcharge as required by the Provincial Offences Act, which is credited to a special provincial government fund to assist victims of crime.
