Six more workplaces in Mississauga and Brampton will have on-site vaccination clinics for employees in the weeks ahead.
Warehouses for HelloFresh, Walmart, Loblaws, Magna, Air Canada and Purolator have been selected for the program that is operated by the Provincial Government and Peel Region in conjunction with the businesses involved.
The goal is to get the COVID-19 fighting medication to essential workers.
The clinics are for employees of each facility only and the specific dates of the clinics have yet to be determined
These same workplaces will also operate future local community clinics in partnership with the Region of Peel and community organizations that will be held at community centres, places of worship or other community hubs that will continue to focus on vaccinating targeted groups beyond the general public, people who otherwise cannot be vaccinated through mass vaccination clinics.
“Expanding the workplace vaccination program allows for more needles in arms, especially for our hardest to reach, which will help the community as a whole,” said Dr. Lawrence Loh, Peel’s Medical Officer of Health. “Vaccinations in workplaces offer a convenient way for employers to help their workers and will help to protect friends and relatives throughout the region.”
Criteria for selecting workplaces include hotspot location, outbreak data, and the willingness of the employer to operate and fund an on-site clinic for their employees and a separate clinic for the community.
