A man has died following an industrial accident at a construction site in Brampton on Monday (June 22) afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the area of Kennedy Road South and Clarence Street shortly before 4 p.m. after reports that a worker had fallen into a construction hole at the site.

Peel Regional Police said first responders rushed to assist the victim upon arrival, but the adult male was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators have not released details about the depth of the hole or the circumstances that led to the fall.

Police secured the area as officials began examining the scene. As is standard practice in workplace fatalities, the Ontario Ministry of Labour has taken the lead in the investigation and will work alongside Peel Regional Police to determine what happened.

Road closures were in place around the site Monday evening while investigators gathered evidence.

No further information about the victim has been released.
