A Personal Support Worker (PSW) faces four counts of theft after family members got suspicious that their father was getting slowly robbed at his retirement home in St. Catharines.

The Niagara Police got the complaint from a family member back on Jan. 16 that their 87-year-old father living in the Niagara Ina Grafton Gage Village at 413 Linwell Rd. was missing funds.

When the family members thought something was amiss, they secretly installed a camera in his room and told the police that they believed his PSW, who was an employee of the retirement home, was responsible.

After reviewing the evidence, the police laid charges on four counts of theft under $5,000 against Kathleen Erin Little, 38, of St. Catharines.

She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the courthouse in St. Catharines on March 28.

The investigation is ongoing as police suspect there may be additional complainants and “are encouraging any senior or family member of any senior who was cared for by Little to report any previously suspected suspicious activity.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the investigating officer by dialing 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009208.
